General Membership Meeting 18 July 2026

The Sons of Liberty Chapter will hold an IN PERSON General Membership Meeting.

Please join us on Saturday, July 18th at 12 noon until 2:00

The Tam O’Shanter has been a regular meeting place for Sons of Liberty Chapter SAR for years. (This is likely the last meeting at the Tam.)

The more people present, the better! Make plans to attend our regular meeting at the Tam!

There is no official dress code, but most of our members wear a coat and tie to attend our General Membership Meetings. If you’d like to buy an official SAR tie, speak with our Treasurer at our next meeting!

Compatriot John V. Richardson, SAR Member, will speak on Goin’ Off to War: Black Powder and Related Weapons in the American Revolutionary War.

To identify the types of weapons and their component parts;  To cover all the items, you would need to shoot: flint, powder, bullet mould, ball, wadding, and musket; and, To encourage you to join the Color Guard (there are medals after three years)!

An 8th generation Ohioan, John V. Richardson is a UCLA Professor Emeritus of Information Studies where he has taught “Genealogical Information Resources” for graduate students training to become archivists and librarians.  Currently, he’s the FamilyTree DNA volunteer administrator for the Richardson Project.  His Die Weber Familie (ITA Press, 2020) about the Weber family who left Germany in the early 19th century won the Ohio Genealogical Society’s 2021 Harrison Prize. He is a member of The General Society of Colonial Wars of the State of California, Sons of the American Revolution, and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, First Families of Ohio (1803), plus other genealogical societies.
